Transcend StoreJet

When it comes to hard drives, Transcend isn’t familiar as Western Digital or Seagate but that’s not the reason to doubt Transcend’s quality. Transcend has presented great portable hard drives from the StoreJet series and this time Transcend has released another portable hard drive from StoreJet series named 25M3.

The great thing about portable hard drives is that you can easily transfer any amount of files from one computer to another, or simply keep the data on portable hard drive as a backup. Although portable drives are great accidents can occur and if accidentally drop your hard drive your data will probably become unusable. In order to face this problem Transcend has released 25M3 that is shock resistant and it will protect your files even if you drop your hard drive.

Besides the rubber case that will protect your files from shocks this hard drive offers amazing speed because it is using USB 3.0 for transfer. Of course backward compatibility with USB 2.0 is possible. Transcend StoreJet 25M3 has connection bandwidth up to 5Gb/s. In addition, this model comes with One Touch auto-backup button so you can easily backup and transfer large files. 25M3 comes with Plug and Play feature so no additional drivers are required, all that you need to do is to connect this portable hard drive to USB port and you’re good to go. As for power, 25M3 uses USB cable to power itself so no additional cables are required. Storage space of these models is 500GB and 640GB.

Leaked: Fable III coming to PCs

Microsofft corporation with Lionhead Studios’ comes with the new XBOX game named Fable III.This game is also will be available with in the PC also but for this the game seeker must have to wait until Christmas of this year.  it has a label on its top margin suggesting that the popular RPG series will be arriving both Xbox and PCs.If the official game is truly to bear the “Only on Xbox 360 & Windows” sticker then this would be the first time the series is to appear on PCs since its debut. Microsoft is yet to officially confirm a cross-platform release for the title, it remains possible that the badge appeared on the box in error or it is perfectly sensible to guess that this has been reasonably well photo shopped.

Selling of Windows 7 surpasses Vista in market share

According to latest report, a consulting firm claimed that Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system has surpassed Windows Vista in terms of market share calculated for the last month.

In contrast to other research firms, it is reported that Windows 7 now leads with about 14.6% of all operating systems in use as compared to 12.6% share of the beleaguered Windows Vista. This is for the first time that Win7 crosses Vista market share.

However, other leading research firm posted opposite results. California-based NetApplications said that Windows 7’s market share is just 11.7% in April, which is lower than Vista’s 15.6%. the firm calculates the market share after studying about 160 million monthly unique visitors to its clients' sites.

Earlier also, it is projected that Windows 7 will outperform Vista to become the second-most-popular operating system before the end of June. Further, it is predicted that by December this year, Win7 will have about 20% market share, whereas Vista will account for only 10% share.

Samsung 'S-Pad' tablet in August

According to latest report, sources said that Samsung, the electronic giant is preparing to launch its tablet PC. It seems that the company will launch the device, dubbed as S-Pad in August.

It is reported that the device will have a 7-inch Super AMOLED display and will be powered by either Windows 7 operating system or Google's Android platform.

However, analysts predict that the AMOLED screen would raise the price tag of the device.

Recently, Apple has announced that it has sold more than i million iPads in one month. Even though, the device lacks Flash support and multi-tasking, the device has been remained successful in creating more demand than supply. This attracts lot of PC vendors to introduce their tablet PCs. However, HP and Microsoft had delayed their tablet programmes for unknown reasons.

25nm MLC SSDs in Q4 by Intel Corp.

Intel Corp, the world’s largest producer of silicon based chips has indicated that it will focus more on the 25nm multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory chips and will stop making 50nm and 34nm drives.

It is reported that the company will introduce 160GB, 300GB and 600GB X25-M drives during the Q4 of 2010. Along with Micron, Intel had unveiled the 25nm MLC NAND that measures only 1.8 inches and offers a much higher data density as well as higher speeds and capacities.

Market analysts predict that the Chipzilla wants to switch over to the newer technology as soon as possible. However, it is still unknown that to which markets these 1.8” chips will address. It seems that due to their thin size, the drives can be used in camcorders and Blu-ray devices.

Further, sources said that the company will introduce a 300GB capacity drive based on 25nm architecture by Q1 2011, which is higher than present SSDs can boast.

Is Apple iPad effects a lot on netbook sales?

From last two years, the inexpensive and compact net books were enjoying explosive growth in demand. However, the demand of the devices falls heavily at the end of 2009.

According to latest report, netbook sales only surge about 5 per cent in April 2010. It seems that Apple’s iPad is to blame the stuck growth. However, analysts predict that the low profile devices have merely saturated their niche in the market.

Various leading research firm also predicted that the netbooks will see a downturn in the current year. Apple has recently announced that it sold more than 1 million iPad computers in the first month. The company has also started delivery of iPad 3G last week.

Meanwhile, the iPad is currently available in the US and the company is planning to introduce the device in other market shortly. Apple has planned to sell 10 million iPads in 2010.

It is reported that the netbooks sales YoY growth decreased from 568 percent in September 2009 to 180 percent in October. The figures had been falling rapidly since 2010.

•    32GB, Wi-Fi only - £499
•    64GB, Wi-Fi only - £599

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t improves on the basic 10-inch netbook by adding a multi-touch display that swivels out of the way to convert the netbook into a compact slate tablet. Compared to regular netbooks on the market, the IdeaPad S10-3t is bit heavier, has a shorter battery life, and is on the higher end of the netbook price spectrum. These issues may be more than made up for, however, by this netvertible's great touch navigation experience. If you're looking for a netbook with more flexibility, the IdeaPad S10-3t is well worth a look.

$98 Laptop by ITA

ITA Computers has started shipping the Smartbook 7 from its website, 98dollarnetbook.com. The netbook has a VIA 8500, 300MHz CPU and 128MB of RAM, and comes with Windows CE 6.0, which begs the question – is this machine even usable without a miniature Linux distro?

The Smartbook 7 has been seen before in other incarnations, and is better suited to a small Linux distro, rather than Windows CE 6.0ITA Computers has just launched a VIA-based, 7” netbook that costs $98. However, the company is charging $15 for shipping, which is quite a significant increase for its price bracket. The Smartbook 7 features a VIA 8500, 300MHz CPU; 128MB of RAM; a 7”, 800 x 480, TFT; a 2GB SSD; three USB 2.0 ports; an WLAN 802.11 a/b/g adapter; and Windows CE 6.0.
This isn’t the first time the public has seen this netbook; Liliputing.com was informed that the OEM made the Delstar netbook, which was sold for $120 during Black Friday. Other similar Linux-based models have been around for some time, and some Windows CE models were sighted on eBay for less than a hundred dollars. The Smartbook 7 does have one redeeming feature though - its 1-year warranty.

Intel and AMD in the run for high-end server processor in India

High-end server processor is considered as the lifeblood of high-performance computers. The two giant companies Intel as well as AMD are in the run for this battle; when Intel launched four - to eight -core Xeon 7500 “Nehalem EX” processors; AMD unveiled its eight- to 12-core Opteron 6000 “Magny-Cours” chips to counter the competition.
If we compare the two giants, AMD, with its Opteron 6000 “Magny-Cours” processors targeted a more conventional computing space by delivering workload specific performance, power efficiency as well as delivering more spaces for lesser money. On the other hand, Intel with its Xeon 7500 processor has made a huge performance leap, which has improved the benchmarks tremendously.

Now-a-days there are HPC (High Performance Computers), which are used to solve the advanced computation problems and also these are mostly used by the high-tech industries. The number of organizations with performance computing facility in India has risen enormously from 2008 onwards and these two companies were featured in Top 500 of the latest supercomputers. According to the SERC (Supercomputer Education and Research Centre) of IISC (Indian Institute of Science), which revealed that there are 5 supercomputers in Bangalore, 3 each in Pune and Chennai, 2 in Delhi and 1 each in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
At last, till now it is true to say that Intel rule this market of Server Processor Segment in India, which can be revealed from the fact that India has 15 Supercomputers in total out of which majority runs on Intel processor.
