Selling of Windows 7 surpasses Vista in market share

According to latest report, a consulting firm claimed that Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system has surpassed Windows Vista in terms of market share calculated for the last month.

In contrast to other research firms, it is reported that Windows 7 now leads with about 14.6% of all operating systems in use as compared to 12.6% share of the beleaguered Windows Vista. This is for the first time that Win7 crosses Vista market share.

However, other leading research firm posted opposite results. California-based NetApplications said that Windows 7’s market share is just 11.7% in April, which is lower than Vista’s 15.6%. the firm calculates the market share after studying about 160 million monthly unique visitors to its clients' sites.

Earlier also, it is projected that Windows 7 will outperform Vista to become the second-most-popular operating system before the end of June. Further, it is predicted that by December this year, Win7 will have about 20% market share, whereas Vista will account for only 10% share.
